Tech Credit Union is proud to welcome Corey Campbell, Business Manager of LIUNA Local 81, to our Board of Directors. His election reflects our continued commitment to organized labor, working families, and the communities we serve throughout Northwest Indiana and Illinois.
Corey is a proud resident of La Porte County, where he lives with his wife, Jessica, and their two children. His dedication to family and community has remained at the center of his personal and professional life, and that same commitment carries through in the leadership roles he holds today.
After graduating from Chesterton High School, Corey began his career as an apprentice with the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) Local 81 in Valparaiso. Within two years, he completed a rigorous apprenticeship program that included 432 hours of classroom instruction and 4,000 hours of on-the-job training. He went on to perform refractory work at mills along the Northwest Indiana lakefront and later earned a promotion to foreman.
Corey’s passion for advocacy and workforce representation led him into union leadership, where he was appointed as a LIUNA Local 81 Organizer and later advanced to Field Representative. Today, he serves as Business Manager of LIUNA Local 81, representing nearly 1,400 members. In this role, he is a strong advocate for family-sustaining wages, strong benefits, and—above all—the safety of the men and women who help build and strengthen our communities.
Corey’s commitment to service began early. At just 18 years old, he volunteered with the Chesterton Fire Department, completing extensive training and earning multiple state certifications. Though leaving the department was a difficult decision, it allowed him to fully pursue his career and leadership within LIUNA.
His leadership extends well beyond his local union role. Corey currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Construction Workers Pension Trust Fund, the Northern Indiana Area Labor Federation Board, and the La Porte, Starke, and Pulaski Building & Construction Trades Council. He is also an Officer for the LIUNA State of Indiana District Council and a delegate to the Northwestern Indiana Building & Construction Trades Council.
In addition, Corey has served for many years on the La Porte County Library Board and continues his civic service today on the LaPorte County Regional Sewer & Water District. He also serves as Treasurer of the LaPorte County Democratic Central Committee and as Deputy Chair for Labor Relations and CD1 Coordination on the Indiana State Democratic Central Committee.
Corey brings a unique blend of hands-on experience, union leadership, and community commitment to Tech Credit Union’s Board of Directors. His perspective strengthens our mission as a member-owned financial institution focused on supporting working families and providing trusted financial solutions that help members build long-term security.
We are proud to welcome Corey Campbell to the Tech Credit Union Board of Directors and look forward to the positive impact his leadership will bring for our members and our communities for years to come.
